Hi, I'm Jarbas Junior, founder and creative director of Freela.
I've spent over 25 years in design and creative direction. I started as a freelancer, then worked in creative agencies and in-house teams across hospitality, entertainment and lifestyle, and later ran my own agency. Along the way I led design on work for brands like ASICS, Oakley, Red Bull and GoPro, on everything from packaging to national campaigns.
Big-brand work taught me a lot. It also showed me how slow and expensive the traditional agency model can be: too many layers, too many opinions, and budgets that blow out. Freela is my answer to that. It started almost ten years ago with a simple idea: give business owners the same senior thinking, without the overheads.
Why "freela"?
In Brazilian Portuguese, "freela" is slang for a freelancer, and for the gig itself. It's a nod to how we work: senior people, brought together for the job at hand.
How the team works
I'm involved in every job. For each one, I bring in hand-picked specialists from a small senior bench: designers, an art director, a developer and a photographer. No juniors learning on your project, no account managers in the middle, and no overheads you end up paying for.
